Emily Fowler

I didn't start out in tech.

For several years I worked in emergency medical services — first as an EMT and later as a paramedic. Most days involved solving problems with limited information, adapting when things didn't go according to plan, and figuring out what needed to happen next.

Eventually I found myself drawn to a different kind of problem solving.

These days I spend my time building websites, creating automation tools, studying cybersecurity, and generally saying "I bet I could make that" a little too often.

I'm currently working toward a BS in Cybersecurity at Western Governors University, where I've been fortunate enough to be accepted into the National Honors Society. Along the way I've earned CompTIA A+ certification and gained experience supporting technology projects in healthcare environments.

Emily as a flight medic

Years in the field.

Working EMS — and eventually flying as a flight medic — meant showing up to situations where the stakes were real and the information was incomplete. You learn fast to stay calm, ask the right questions, and focus on what actually matters.

Those habits don't go away. They just show up differently now: in how I scope a project, how I talk to clients, and how I decide what to build first.

Emily with her EMS team

It's always been about the people.

The best thing about EMS wasn't the calls — it was the team. You trust each other completely, you cover each other's blind spots, and you get the job done together.

That's carried into how I approach every project. A church needs a website. A community needs information organized. A kid needs a summer learning platform. Someone is tired of doing the same spreadsheet task every week. Those are the problems worth solving.

Photography is part of that too →
